about

From the album "The Heart Is a Muscle" (ME142)

lyrics

life is out-of-whack
reality’s off-kilter
and time is out-of-joint

as though i’d spiraled
down this corkscrew
just to arrive at this point

like a wolf
at the dog park
howling when the dogs bark

now gathering detritus
from the demolition
and what just fell apart

to see if i can give it form
as though to give it meaning
or to say i’d made some art

like a wolf
at the dog park
howling
when the dogs bark

once, at greater liberty
i’d called no place a home
but then, it hadn’t mattered

now, if i’ve stayed-put
i haven’t settled-down
i have been fettered

like a wolf
at the dog park
howling
when the dogs bark
